Stop Violence Against Women

Amnesty's hard hitting video for 'Stop Violence Against Women' campaign. Watch. You might have to right click and choose 'play' from the drop down menu. This flipped me out. I can't imagine.

Whoaa... that was intense.

Right now at the hospital we're doing this whole domestic violence awareness display called, "Silent Witnesses"... there's all of these red cutout sillouettes (sp?) all around the hospital with their stories attached.. one is an infant in it's cradle representing a 4 month old baby that was killed by his mother's boyfriend. It's heartwrenching to see every time I walk down the hallway. But people need to be aware.. I may do a blog post myself on the Silent Witness program, and maybe link this video too.

Thanks for posting that.

Good post. It's important that women are made more aware of the fact that they can change their situations-that help exists and that people care about what they are going through. Here in Florida the news is constantly carrying stories about women who have been murdered by their partners and about kids who have been killed by their fathers or by the man in their mother's life. It's horrible. I myself once had a boyfriend put a knife to my throat. Needless to say, that guy isn't in my life anymore, but I didn't have kids with him and I'm an Irish girl who gets really pissed off at men who do things like that. Plus, I had the awareness that it was wrong. Anyway, much love to you!!!

It sure gets your attention! Unless you have known someone effected by violence it is hard to believe. But, my college roommate was knocked out cold by her drunk ex (football player). Scary shit!
